Importing data — How dates are read (3)

A time of day written after a date is imported with it. 2026-08-12 14:30, 12/08/2026 2:30 PM and 12 Aug 2026 14:30:05 are all stored as 2:30 PM on 12 August. Seconds are dropped. If any value in a column has a time, the field the import creates for that column shows and edits times, and the values in it that have no time stay plain dates. Midnight does not count as a time, because 2026-08-12 00:00:00 is how a database writes a plain date. A time zone after the time, such as Z or +01:00, is not applied: 16:15Z is imported as 4:15 PM, the time as written. The note on the review step counts the values that have a time and the ones followed by a zone, and a picker beside it switches between Keep the time and Date only. When a column with times fills a Date field you already have, the times are kept there too. If that field is set to dates only, its cells show the times but editing one sets the date alone, and the note says so. Switch on Include time for the field to edit them.
