The help centre — What an article page shows
An article’s page shows its whole body, as text. Line breaks you typed are kept. If the body holds HTML, which is common after an import, headings, paragraphs and list items become lines of their own, each list item starts with a bullet, and the rest of the markup is removed. The page never shows formatting, links or images from an article: the body is written by your team and read by the public, so it is always treated as text.
The index shows the opening of each article under its title. The search reads every word of every article, so a question answered in an article’s last paragraph still finds it.
